Fire Station Dedication

In spite of the early morning gloom, Saturday June 4th turned out to be a beautiful day to dedicate a fire station.  Representatives from many neighboring fire stations joined us as we formally dedicated our station.  The function was well attended by families, friends, residents and business owners.  Congressman Curt Weldon delivered a very stirring keynote address.  See more photos.

To the residents of East Allen Township concerning the Fire Siren

The fire siren has been turned off for several years due to noise complaints.  This renders the siren of no value to the community and the fire department.  In an effort to obtain some benefit from the siren, it has been turned back on, but will only be activated for community-wide alerts or disasters, much as air raid sirens were used many years ago.  In other words, it will be used to alert the residents of East Allen Township, not the fire fighters.  Henceforth it may be activated for tornados, major hazardous materials incidents, acts of terrorism, or other large scale emergency events.  If you hear it, turn on a local radio station, TV station or weather alert radio.  In order to insure the continued readiness of the siren, it will be tested weekly on Mondays between 12 noon and 12:15 PM.
