On November 8th, 2023 we presented the current state of the East Allen Township Volunteer Fire Department (EATVFD) to the East Allen Township Board of Supervisors (BOS). During the presentation we offered potential solutions to improve response times, recruit new volunteers and retain our current volunteers. In the following weeks with input from our membership we developed a plan to present to the BOS on Thursday January 25th, 2024.
We are happy to announce that on January 25th, 2024 the BOS unanimously approved our Recruitment and Retention plan to include the following:
Township Tax Incentives
Per Call Incentive Program
Activity Points Incentive Program
Educational Bonus Program
Recruitment Campaign
Without the help and input from the BOS and Township Manager this would not have been possible. Last year the BOS approved the purchase of a new fire engine to replace our current 25 year old fire engine, a year later they approved this plan for Recruitment and Retention. It is apparent that the BOS is dedicated to supporting its volunteer fire department ensuring the residents and travelers are provided with fire and rescue services.
